Meet April Reekie

April Reekie is a wedding photographer in the Okanagan Valley and the owner of Wanderline Photo. Megan and April began their consulting work in June 2020. After starting her business in 2019, a pandemic hit the world and for a while changed how businesses could work in person. April used the space she was given during this time to receive mentorship from Megan to learn how to grow her clientele online so that she could live wherever she wanted! She now lives in Victoria, BC and we are so excited to see that her business continues to thrive online and offline. .

Social Media Coach for Photographers

Consulting Work

April started her Instagram learning journey with Megan through BNL’s 6 week 1:1 Instagram (Which is similar to The Social Media Academy that now exists) Once she completed this journey, April then joined Megan’s monthly mentorship group container to continue help continue her social media learning!

The golden nugget.

When businesses work with Megan for consulting, they learn amazing social media marketing knowledge that is easy to apply on their own. There is always some unique aspect that comes out that completely shifts their business, and both Megan and her client she’s working with don’t realize it happens until they sit down and really connect about the bigger vision for their company. At BNL, we like to call this information our client’s golden nugget.

For April, her golden nugget was how she could scale her business by learning how to connect with her real Okanagan community both online and offline. For a visual entrepreneur like April, Instagram is a key to growing her business and she was able to take the skills Megan showed her and elevate them while also taking Megan’s advice on how to build her business through collaborative efforts offline as well.

“The PowerPoints she made me during our coaching is still relevant and something I refer back to often to see what I can use on the regular.”

A word from April.

“Working with Megan personally is such a treat. She is so well-spoken, intelligent in her work and easy to listen and learn from. She taught me so much about community and I wouldn't be where I am in my business today without her continuous love and encouragement.

As a photographer, Megan has sent me many amazing referrals and I've been lucky enough to meet lots of her clients through that. I am so grateful to have met Megan and her team and still have those lovely unicorns as constant cheerleaders. If you haven't reached out to the BNL team yet, do yourself a favour! There's no better place.”

A personal note from Megan.

When April came to me I knew that she was a Flamingo in her industry. Her photographs were nothing short of STUNNING and I knew it was going to be so fun to work with her. After getting to know her more and hearing that she was still working a full-time job and that this was only her side hustle, I stopped in my tracks.

April’s work was some of the most professional work I had seen and I was shocked that she was not doing it full time already! I told her that I would show her everything she needed to know in order to leverage Facebook and Instagram to take her side hustle and turn it into the real deal.

I’m not sure if she believed me when I told her there is no doubt in my mind she would be a full-time photographer but now, one year later, and a pandemic further behind us, she has taken flight, quit her job, and is building a beautiful team. She even was the photographer at my sister’s wedding and I am beyond grateful we got to share that memory together and celebrate all the success she has had in her business.

April took what I told her about Instagram and Facebook, leveraged it, and then went one step further and allowed herself to really connect with her Kelowna community in person as well. I am very proud of how far she has come and cannot wait to continue watching her grow!

“If I had to pick just one, it would be her advice and guidance to connect with your community and other businesses. Meeting people creates genuine relationships which lead to referrals, community building and a whole lot of amazingness that just keeps on growing.”
